Several signatures demand attention.

The Lion on the Ascendant, with Jupiter in his mouth. The emblem of dynastic, pre-revolutionary Iran — of the Qajar and Pahlavi thrones that Khamenei's revolution toppled — was the Lion and Sun (Shir o Khorshid): a lion carrying a sword against the rays of the sun. Born in Mashhad on September 6, 1938, Khamenei carried a Mars–Mercury conjunction in late Leo — a lion's fire yoked to a (natal, retrograde) messenger's tongue — and, more portentously, Pluto at 0° Leo in his 8th house: the lord of death standing at the first degree of the Lion, in the house of endings, from the day of his birth.
